Oracle-bone inscription“Empty” Kong characters and interpretation
“空”字揭示了五蕴（色、受、想、行、识）皆空，三界（欲界、色界、无色界）为空，乃至一切法无自性的深刻真理。
“空”是指这些现象的真实本质是没有独立自存的实体。“空不异色”，意味着我们不应该将物质现象（色）和它们的空性本质（空）看作是分开的两样东西。实际上，一旦我们理解了万物的空性，就会发现这种空性并不是脱离物质现象的另一个存在，而是物质现象本身的真实性质。
The word“Empty” reveals the profound truth that the five aggregates (color, reception, thought, action and consciousness) are empty, the three realms (lust, color and colorless) are empty, and even all dharma has no self-nature. “Empty” means that the real nature of these phenomena is that there is no independent entity. “Emptiness is no color” means that we should not treat physical phenomena (colors) and their emptiness (emptiness) as separate things. In fact, once we understand the emptiness of all things, we will find that this emptiness is not another existence separated from the physical phenomenon, but the real nature of the physical phenomenon itself.
